I am working on a revamped elective course to run at UNSW in Term 3 this year as an online offering. The course is BENV2409 Advanced Multimedia: Immersive Digital Environments and I am really looking forward to teaching it later in the year (T3) with Dean Utian. We have been working on the course, changing existing content and structure and adding new bits as needed. I will post more on this as we go along as there are doubtless interesting insights to be gained in our process to get this course up and running in a way that is a superb experience for students in terms of their engagement and enjoyment as well as all their learning outcomes.

Today I just wanted to share the little poster I made to let students know we have updated the course. The main illustration was done in photoshop with the aid of my trusty Wacom tablet as was the blue scene. Things were compiled together in Illustrator including working out all that text. Hopefully it will attract a few more students…

Actually maybe I should also share just the pic of the happy VR users, it is the part I am most proud of. I like that it came together and looks pretty cool, plus that it flowed out of my stylus onto the digital page quite quickly. Getting the different expressions and some gender ‘flexibility’ into things was fun as was the composition with the hair in the background etc.
